The Boston Local Food Festival, which will overlook historic Boston Harbor, is an outdoor autumn celebration of the many virtues of locally grown and produced food.  The most important objective of the Boston Local Food Festival is to increase accessibility and availability of healthy local food for all. Massachusetts eaters of all ages, races, and socioeconomic levels will see, taste, and appreciate the variety of healthy, delicious food choices that local specialty crops and products make available to them in their own back yard. This unique festival will bring Massachusetts farms, food businesses and speciality producers together with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds, organizations, businesses, and local food advocates in an informative and fun way.

Features of the festival include:

Freshly harvested produce and seafood from farmers and fishermen
Scrumptious servings (extra fee), featuring locally grown foods
Entertaining demonstrations and competitions by chefs and other food experts
Lively local music of many cultural tastes
Engaging exhibitions and playful activities for the kid in all of us
Interactive workshops featuring local food leaders
Food-inspired arts and crafts
Recycling and sustainable practices for minimal waste

Zero Waste Goals

While bringing all of these people together for a festive day, we also strive for a Zero Waste event with minimum impact to our environment. Every effort is made to create an affordable a zero waste event with collection of recyclables, compostable food and utensils and the small remainder of trash.

Festival attendees are encouraged to arrive using public transportation.
Food vendors use recyclable materials as much as possible and offer minimal paper and minimal plastic waste.
Plastic containers are recycled.
Food scraps are composted.
The festival promotes interactive exhibits that share ways to live lighter on the earth.
We highlight businesses and organizations that are also working toward these goals.
