Few activities capture the fall season quite like apple picking. Kids and adults are equally charmed by nature’s bounty on display--row after row of apple trees and hundreds of fat juicy apples of every variety waiting for you to pick your own peck. When else is an apple sweeter than biting into the just-plucked honey crisp that is bigger than your hand?

Memories are borne on these lazy afternoons spent at one of our local farms… when the kids’ fingers are coated in cinnamon sugar from the farm bakery’s fresh cider donut and nothing says comfort like your first warm spoonful of the new harvest’s apple dumpling. New England’s apple orchards are a labor of love by the farmers who tend them and the locals who nurture long-held family traditions on those foliage-dotted landscapes.
